Description

Casavecchia is part of one of the most sought-after destinations in Chianti Region: Castello di Volpaia. The hamlet is one of the finest and most well-preserved Tuscan destinations as it maintains its original fortified medieval structure.

This hamlet mostly belongs to one of the most renowned wine producers in Chianti who restored the old buildings transforming part of them in impressive wine cellars open to visits and wine tastings. People from all over the world come to visit this incredibly charming hamlet and enjoy traditional Tuscan meals in the main square where there are two excellent restaurants and cafes. In year 2015 the Volpaia was listed in the Wine Spectator's TOP100 wines.

Casavecchia is a stone-built farmhouse among vineyards of the Volpaia estate only 2 km from the hamlet. The Castello di Volpaia owners restored this property  with the aim of making it an ideal residence for relaxing  in Chianti.

The interiors have been restored in full respect of typical Tuscan traditions. Each bedroom has an en-suite bathroom. A particular feature is the covered terrace, where guests can enjoy spectacular views and which is furnished for outdoor eating. The terrace is also very practical for families as it overlooks the pool, allowing parents to relax while keeping an eye on the pool area.

The English-speaking estate staff can organize cooking services and visits to the wine cellars and will be glad to assist guests during their stay. There is also a tennis court in the hamlet of Volpaia, available on request.

The house was excellent, the people who received us were super. If there was something, they immediately fixed it. No comments, the whole family had a great holiday. Maybe we go again next year.

A wonderful location for our family vacation. We booked Casavecchia for our group of 12 including grandparent, parents and children. Everything was PERFECT!

Everything about the villa is comfortable and convenient. So glad we had the chance of visiting Volpaia. A great village (and winery!) Donika is the Best!

Our entire experience at Casavecchia was stupendous. Thanks! My family and I thought our stay at Casavecchia was beyond our expectations. The villa is very nicely appointed, with lovely furnishings, modern updates and incredible views. It was a pleasure to have Donika our housekeeper for the week who not only helped us with laundry and making beds and the like but she also aided us in our touring the area providing bus schedules, info on unknown treasures like Mount Oliveto, and just overall kindnesses. We loved meeting the owner Giovannella Stianti who checked us in, gave advice on restaurants, etc. and conducted the cooking class and tour of the winery at Volpaia. We will definitely return to this incredible place!”

“The very best part of Volpaia was Donika, the View, The Villa as a structure, and the pool. The location is amazing. Donika was the best hostess and her cooking was unbelievable. All of the guest were very grateful and appreciative of her personality, and her charm, and her talent. She made our week. The Cycling was the best we have ever had. Allesandra was great. Donika is fantastic!”

It was a wonderful trip and we all had a great time. The villa was delightful. The cook (Danika) does speak English and performs both as cook and maid. She was a big help and cooked some wonderful dishes for us...

Great setting and a wonderful area near Volpaia. Very presentable. Volpaia is a wonderful hamlet. The villa is a short drive away as described. Yes… no surprises on the villa. However, the maid/cook Doneka is worth special mention… she is terrific! Small kitchen not suitable for dining but the outside terrace is wonderful and serves as an eating area. All bedrooms are well placed and adequate. Some offer excellent scenery. Volpaia could not be any more charming and the winery, café, restaurant and church are all pluses to have in such a small hamlet…. Its like a little paradise. The owner also provided a winery tour with a tasting session afterwards…

The villa was much larger and more spacious than they anticipated. With a family of 7 they felt like everyone had quite a bit of private space and room to stretch out. The interior of the villas was very well maintained and fresh and much more updated in feeling than anticipated. Danica was a most unexpected yet cherished part of the trip. She took great care to make sure the family was well settled in. The family felt that she was a most special addition to their stay, and it gave them a sense of well being that she took such great care of them.

We have returned from our trip to Florence and Cassavecchia Volpaia near Radda in Chianti. It was a wonderful trip and we all had a great time. We only had 6 of our family, instead of all 8, but our son-in-law and our oldest grandson couldn't make it. The villa was delightful. The cook (Danika) does speak English and performs both as cook and maid. She was a big help and cooked some wonderful dishes for us. The weather was cool - not swimming weather. Danika brought groceries on Sunday and cooked for us on the June 2 holiday! I need to thank someone for the complimentary wine and starter provisions. Thanks for your help.

My husband, myself and our adult children/spouses spent a week at Casavecchia, a villa that sleeps 8. It was a 4-bedroom, 4,5-bath restored farmhouse with fabulous views across the wine estate from a wonderful terrace that we frequented often. The bathrooms were very nicely upgraded and 2 of the bedrooms were medium size with 2 large sized. The best thing about the villa, however, is that a housekeeper/cook is included in the price for 8 hours each day from Monday-Friday. It was so special to tour all day, than come home to wine glasses set out and appetizers prepared for cocktail hour. The dining room table would be set an dinner was ready each evening with whatever courses we selected. We stuffed ourselves each night on delicious food and then sat around visiting while Donika cleaned up the kitchen. She was friendly, helpful and a delight. It just doesn’t get any better!

The house was wonderful, Donica was an amazing cook and I have the waistline to prove it! The house was really lovely, each room having a wonderful bathroom was great. The pool was great as well, it really warmed up the second week and we used it then. Everyone loved the cooking class with Giovannella. If you have more specific questions I would be happy to answer them but we had a wonderful time and would love to return.
