La Maccinaia is a beautiful property located in a very quiet location, in the heart of the Chianti region, between Gaiole and Castelnuovo Berardenga. The main villa dates to the 17th century, and has been immaculately restored by its Belgian owner who combined modern design with original Tuscan architecture. The property is equipped with the highest standard of modern comforts, including air-conditioning, wi-fi technology, heated swimming pool, a large flat screen television with satellite tv, and an especially well equipped kitchen. The bedrooms are furnished with great taste, and almost all of them have en-suite bathrooms. A particular feature is a covered veranda which makes eating al fresco a lovely experience. The panoramic position of La Maccinaia allows guests to enjoy colourful views of the Chianti countryside, especially from the guest house terrace and the pool area. The English speaking caretakers live on the premises in an apartment with a separate entrance.

I stayed at two houses in Tuscany, everything was great, houses were amazing, service and just feeling the concierges were taking care of us. Maccinaia in particular had the live in concierge and they couple is just amazing. The house was wonderful except that I might have chosen a house closer to a town. Maccinaia is very well set in the mountains and the views are spectacular and the roads to get to it are very curvy and many of them are no paved so you need a car that can drive well thru the different roads. Other than that it surpassed my expectations.”

Our stay at La Maccinaia was absolutely perfect. The property sits in the high hills outside of Siena and has breathtaking views of the valley. The grounds are neatly groomed daily but the housekeeper and her husband. There is a full vegetable and fruit garden where you can sit under the cherry trees and eat your heart out. They make wine from their on-site vineyard where you can walk the fields. The house itself is well designed and comfortable for large groups and families. (Not suitable for people in wheelchairs or using crutches, there are many stairs) The pool has a childproof cover. We highly recommend this villa if you are looking for a peaceful, remote, quiet stay in the Tuscany region.

Our villa was spectacular, like a something out of Architectural Digest. The views, the service, and the property were all outstanding. The location of the estate was both a pro and a con. We were truly in the heart of Chianti wine country and the wine from the estate vineyards was very good. The property was a little off the beaten path, so the holiday involved more driving than we first anticipated.

The villa was GREAT. Beautiful actually. We had friends we met up with who decided to change their travel plans and stay with us in the villa. We made lunch and ate Italian style under the shaded porch. The guys loved the pool. Everything was great.
