This very attractive villa was originally built in the second half of the 19th century, and has been completely renovated throughout. The views from the property are like a picture of typical Chianti landscape, rich with gently rolling hills covered with vineyards and olive groves. Only 4 kms away from Greve in Chianti, Montoro is an ideal base for sightseeing and trips in the Chianti area and to both the larger Tuscan cities, like Florence and Siena, and the smaller towns. Within the well-maintained fenced garden with trees and flower beds, there is a swimming pool, surrounded by a terrace. Its structure makes Montoro suitable also for children. The interiors of the house are furnished with comfortable, traditional furniture, antiques and there is a very well-equipped kitchen and modern bathrooms. A wireless LAN network has been installed at the property for guests who wish to access internet during their stay. The property also has SKY cable television which allows guests to view movies, news and cartoons in English.

Though Montoro looks grand, it is for us the ultimate home away from home. This was our fourth sojourn since 2006 for just that reason. Summer or autumn, it has been a perfect place to relax and enjoy the many pleasures of the region. With five bedrooms in the house and an additional two in a private guest house/apartment, it's a pleasure to invite friends to visit a few days or a week. Montoro's beautiful and peaceful location in the hills only about two miles outside of Greve-in-Chianti is halfway between Florence and Siena. It is away from tourist crowds, yet so easy to visit the many attractions of Tuscany. We and our guests never tire of enjoying Siena and Florence -- an easy hour drive or bus ride -- on our own or together, as well as the great and small vineyards of Chianti and the many hill towns of the area. Good restaurants abound only 10-30 minutes away in Greve, Panzano, Radda, Volpaia, Montefiore and Lamole. Sometimes too good. We and our guests enjoy delicious at-home dinners with occasional "leftover nights" or something else cooked in the large kitchen or on the grill. The grounds are a private garden surrounded by the working fields that produce Montoro olive oil and Montoro e Selvole chianti. The family that works those fields is friendly, glad to chat (especially if in Italian!) or fine with leaving you alone. They, and the owner who checks us in and visits periodically from his home near Rome, treat you like personal guests. We will return to Montoro. Welcoming from the start, it now feels like coming home.

The views, the villa, the owner, Manuela & Sergio ... FANTASTIC! Most of the group utilized the pool and loved it. Overall though the recurring comments involved the absolutely impeccable cleanliness so although we didn't feel a couple hours a day maid service would matter to us -- WOW! The place is spotless -- and that included every single window throughout the entire week. How does she get them so clean??? Everyone commented on the floors and the windows being pristine all week.
