Perched on top of a hill between Lucca and the Camaiore coast, this property offers lovely views over vineyards, olive groves and chestnut woods. The house, built at the beginning of the 1900s, has higher ceilings and larger windows than classical farmhouses and still maintains some of the features of its origins as the local “bottega” (general store). It is a particularly bright house with two separate areas for communal living. There is a living/book room on the ground floor and a large kitchen/dining/ living room on the lower ground floor with direct access to the terrace facing the valley and equipped for al fresco dining. The owners undertook a major restoration adding modern comforts while preserving the original terracotta floors and beamed ceilings. They have also furnished the house with personal pieces reflecting their international background. In particular, the African connection gives the house a special touch reflected in some of the decorative items. Its location is ideal for visitors seeking a quiet base from which to explore the region. The swimming pool is located in a very panoramic position, overlooking the valley.
Cleaning service is included 2 hours a day, 3 days a week.

Guest Reviews for La Macchietta
We have spent two delightful weeks, blessing with good weather, in this splendid house, well equipped and great landscape as others have said. We found the route to San Martino a little challenging at night, when returning from Opera in Montecatini but fortunately was no one coming the other way! Restaurant ‘’Vipore’’ very handy – robust Tuscan fare nicely prepared, will a backdrop of fine time.
Note – Restaurant ‘’Lombardo’’ has moved from Santo Stefano – see their website.
A great 2 weeks – Nadia is a treasure!
It was a splendid holiday. Top house, top location, loved the cleaning service, view, surroundings, restaurants, Lucca. Time was too short, they definitely want to return to the house. Thanks a lot for everything
A lovely relaxing week in a beautiful house with wonderful views. Tabitha enjoyed her first holiday and 2 years old Rupert loved the pool. We had a delicious supper at ‘’Il Cicco’’ down the – a proper Italian homecooked meal – highly recommended!
I wanted to let you how much we enjoyed our stay at La Macchietta we had a fantastic time, the villa was exactly what we wanted. Elisa and her mum was great
Lovely house Very comfortable house, good views, everything a holiday in Tuscany should be.
We had a lovely week at La Macchietta. Thank you (and Salogi) for helping to make the arrangements so simple and the holiday so enjoyable.
Enjoyed the country living - fire flies at night - pool - fresh breeze - Lombardo's was great! Lucca beautiful!
Beutiful views, with a few days of sunshine we warmed outside. Starting to feel relaxed after a much-needed vacanza. Enjoyed the birds but not the bees..Thank you Raffaella for being so nice and friendly!
We were enchanted with this charming rustic villa, it fulfilled our expectations and so much more. We feel truly it is a heaven of beauty, that we didn't want to leave.
La magie de Lucca, une fois de plus. Nous emportons un precieux trésor, celui de ces moments partagés.
Relaxing, peaceful, pretty views - we've had wonderful time on the terrace + by the fire. A true Tuscan house, more than our expectations, well stocked and furnished. Thank you for the wonderful memories of Tuscany.
Just what we'd hoped for on our first family holiday in Tuscany. Very authentic and wonderful views. So peaceful and restful. Just what we all needed. Many thanks.
We had a wonderful forthnight here - delightful villa. Super views, lots of delicious food. A perfect holiday
This was a marvellous place to stay for a restful holiday. We are saddened to leave today having thoroughly enjoyed the house, its grounds and the quietness of the countryside. What a difference it made being in somebody’s home rather than a rented house. The property was all you said it would be, thank you.
