A Beginner’s Guide to Visiting Florence

At Salogi Villas we pride ourselves on being experts of Tuscany and the surrounding areas. When you plan a trip to Tuscany, Florence must be on your itinerary. Packed with renaissance treasures, it surely deserves a stop. From the Duomo to the Uffizi Gallery hosting among the most famous art pieces in the world, from the breathtaking views along the banks of Arno to the small charming alleys.
There are many tourists crowding the streets but fortunately there are still ways to get away from the crowds and Salogi Team is here to provide such suggestions - more than a list of sightseeing that you can find on any travel guide of the city.

A once in a lifetime experience, and a must to add to your list of things to do in Tuscany is to organize a private tour of the Vasari corridor connecting the Uffizi Gallery to the Palazzo Pitti after the museum officially closes. We will also be happy to organise a private view of the Chapel of the Magi at Palazzo Medici famous for the fresco of the "Journey of the Magi", a sacred moment depicted by Benozzo Gozzoli with elegance and splendor you can admire in the representation of the characters, the painted with sumptuous robes and regal finishings.

Palazzo Strozzi hosts some of the most important retrospectives of the country as well as contemporary art exhibits.

If you want to enjoy a fantastic view of Florence, we highly recommend going to Bello Sguardo - in this area we recommend stopping by Barthel interior shop if you are into vintage furniture. The owners of Barthel have also opened a cooking school called Desinare, attracting visitors as well as local chefs.
Among the must see sightseeing there is Brunelleschi's stunning Basilica di Santo Spirito as well as the Brancacci Chapel.

If you would like to go on a beautiful walk, you can do so in the Boboli Gardens, an open air museum which is a spectacular example of "green architecture" decorated with sculptures and the prototype which inspired many European Royal gardens, in particular, Versailles.
After your tour, for apertivo you should stop by Il Santino or at Le Volpi and Uva both offering a vast selection of handpicked wines served with local cheeses and salami.

Are you planning to visit a vineyard close by? Just outside Florence there is one of the best vineyards in Tuscany: Antinori in Bargino.

Where to eat? Well this needs a dedicated article as there are so many great restaurants according to your taste we will be happy to point you in the right direction.
As you surely know, the places mentioned above are just a short list of the things you can do in Florence. When planning a trip let us know what you are looking for: art, fashion, interior, children activities, food, etc. and we will be happy to provide a tailored list of suggestions.
