Guest Reviews for Villa Di Montelopio

The most magical place to be in Italy!

Our family spent a week in Montelopio the first week in July. The pictures can’t do this place justice. We had so much room and everyone felt they had their own private space. All of the rooms were unique and special. Everyone was delighted with the personal touches. Everyone also had their own bathroom. The view over the valley is remarkable. The grounds were beautiful and the pool was a welcome oasis on those hot Tuscan days. The village is teeny tiny (the word village isn’t quite right), but the house has everything we needed. The prepared meals were delicious and we enjoyed drinking wine in the massive dining room or large ballroom-like living area. The air conditioned master bedroom was great. The rest of our family faired fine with the fans in their room, but my husband and I were thankful for the A/C. If you imagine Tuscan villa in your mind, this is the place you’re imagining! It was also very easy to take day trips and we booked the Off the Beaten Path wine tour, which dropped and picked up from the house. It was one of our favorite excursions.

Absolutely wonderful week! The staff is superb; they are friendly, helpful, and more than accommodating! The views are incredible and the property is fascinating. Although it did not really diminish our experience, it was horribly and unusually hot and only one room is air conditioned, so we spent our social time outside in the courtyard.

Our stay at Villa di Montelopio was everything we had hoped for and MORE! The villa and grounds are beautiful and was the perfect setting for my family and my 60th birthday celebration. It was almost too good to be true! The meals prepared by Paola and Paola Marie were delicious and authentic. I wish we could do it all over again! The villa made a perfect basecamp for all of our Tuscany adventures. Leaving the villa on the last day was a sad day for us. You MUST rent this property!

We splurged and decided to rent the whole villa even though we were only 3 people. Having all the space to ourselves was wonderful. The onsite kitchen staff and groundskeeper were great. I had even pre-ordered a bunch of wine and had it shipped to the villa. We had cold champagne ready for us upon arrival! The fireplace is also huge. Almost 6' tall and 8' wide. We enjoyed burning fires all day, especially one day when it rained. We were warm and cozy, and Dubi made sure we had more than enough firewood.

Perfection! We stayed for three weeks and wished we could have stayed longer. The villa was a residence of the Knights Templar in the 12th century. The bedrooms were spacious as were the public rooms. We had unseasonably chilly weather and we were treated to roaring fires by the caretaker Dubi. The chef, Paola and her helpers prepared a wonderful breakfast everyday and dinner six days (Sundays off). We were a party of nine, friends and family. What a perfect destination for everyone. All the privacy one could want and also room enough to be together.

As a family staying at Villa di Montelopio, we truly enjoyed our time. We thought the villa offers guests an incomparable experience that is living in a historical building surrounded by beautiful nature. We found that the staff were very friendly and helpful. Although language was somewhat of a barrier, the housekeeper Dubi made sure our needs were all met.

This villa was beyond our expectations. The pictures in the ad are accurate and actually cannot capture the grandeur of it. The staff are superb. Friendly, helpful, and cooking was amazing. Gave us privacy, but there when we needed them. Housekeeping kept our rooms straight. It was awesome.

The villa passed our expectations - very very spacious, grand in a perfect state of dilapidation (everything worked, even the wifi, if a little slowly). The pool was about 50 m away through a fantastic olive grove, and kept spotlessly clean by Dubi, the caretaker. The rooms were likewise kept very clean each day. The living room is enormous and very imposing, although we never used it, as we always sat outside, or were eating in the equally lovely dining room. Breakfast and dinner were prepared by Paula and Laura, each meal better than the last. They also showed us how to make different sorts of pasta on two afternoons. My one complaint, in fact, is a consequence of how great it was here, I put on two kilos in seven days! The owner Vittorio also paid a visit on the second day and made us feel very welcome. Pisa and Florence are an hour or so away by car, plus San Gimignano a little closer. All worth visiting. Bar across the road was also very friendly Will definitely go again!

A little off the main tourist trail in Tuscany, this villa was amazing value. Stunning property (better than the photos!), beautiful grounds, friendly owner & staff, amazing food produced by Paula catered for a challenging combination of dietary requirements. Whilst its location provides refuge from the hordes, attractions such as San Gimignano, Montefioralle (La Castellana - lovely food & terrific staff who helped with our car breakdown), Monteriggioni (eat at Il Pozzo) etc. all only 40 mins to an hour or so away by car. Situated between Pisa & San Gimignano, so useful if you want to explore the coastal areas or spend the day on a ferry along the Cinque Terre. Any minor issues dealt with efficiently by staff. We sorted out the owner's WiFi problem by resetting the password (with his permission) to something manageable. After departure guests told me the bathroom in the very charming Tower does not get hot water - plenty of other bathrooms but great if this could be fixed. Child friendly

Loved its historicism. Food was good; Maria and her server did a great job.

We enjoyed our stay at Montelopio. The staff were excellent and prepared first class meals. The meals were traditional Tuscan and it was nice just to come back at the end of a day and not have to look for a restaurant. The building is as it was described. The location is excellent and near all the great places to visit in Tuscany. As we spoke no Italian it was a little difficult to communicate with some of the staff. The caretaker spoke several languages so we communicated through him. It was a vacation of a lifetime. We had a great time.

“Relaxing” Charming villa in a rural location, perfect for catching up with family. Maria, the cook, was wonderful and the villa has a lot of character. Favorite activity: Trips to nearby hill towns

Absolutely lovely! Villa di Montelopio lived up to all my crazy movie-inspired expectations of what a week in a villa in Tuscany should be. Maria, the cook, made us delicious dinners almost every night, taking just Sunday off. She, her helper Maria Paola and the caretaker Tubi were as friendly and helpful as could be. The villa itself is incredible, just as in the pictures. Just a few caveats: The villa staffers are wonderful, but they barely speak English; pointing and gesturing will get you only so far if no one in your group speaks Italian. Get GPS in your car; it's worth every penny. And if you go in September, buy plenty of bug spray. But those are just quibbles. Our stay was everything I hoped it would be, and I would go back in a heartbeat

We highly recommend Villa Di Montelopio it is a wondefully maintained villa that dates back as far as the 12th century. Each day a new treasure unfolds as you learn more about the villa. The staff Maria, Sig. Dubi and Maria Palo are fantastic. They are on site to help with all of your needs. Maria's cooking is fantastic and provides an authentic taste experience in Tuscan cooking.Set on beautiful grounds the villa staff has a large garden, presses their own olive oil and makes their own wine. Montelopio is a quaint small village convenient to most Tuscan towns. The accomadations are outstanding and the staff alone provide a huge plus. Five out of five stars!!! We will be back.

I just wanted to say what a fantastic time we had at Mentelopio. It was even more beautiful in real life then it looked on the internet which is saying something. We all loved it. Also, could you pass on huge thanks to Dubi (not sure how you spell this), Maria and Paola who were all brilliant. Maria's cooking was delicious and Dubi was really efficient and couldn't do enough for us. I loved the puppy Morro too. I'm sure he'll be a great guard dog when he grows up. Victorio was very kind and helped us fix up the wifi. Thanks also for all your help in organising this. If you need a testimonial or anything, don't hesitate to ask.
