Cycling paths from Lucca

There are many Tuscany cycling paths that you can start from Lucca. Here are just a few suggestions:
The easier one is for sure the tour of the city walls. It is only 4,22 km and the kids will love it, making it the perfect Tuscany family friendly holiday bike ride. While riding on the walls you can admire the town from above and if that’s not enough, you can ride to the old centre and visit the most beautiful churches, squares and towers of Lucca.
Another lovely ride is the cycle path (just less than 40 km) that goes from Ponte a Moriano to the sea along the left side of the Serchio River.  
It is dedicated to Giacomo Puccini because it crosses his native places like Lucca and Lago Massaciuccoli  

Also lovely and easy is the Ciclovia della Versilia (28 km) that goes from Viareggio to Marina di Massa all along the sea. Great to stop at sunset for an aperitivo in one of the many places on the beach.

Lucca is also on the Via Francigena. The Pilgrim road unwinded for 1800 km from Canterbury to Rome and eventually  to Apulia where there were ports of embarkation for the Holy Land.
If you are a fit rider you can try the B14 to San Miniato or even further on the B15 to San Gimignano
