Antinori , Chianti Classico : best vineyard for a day trip
The Antinori family has produced wine since 1385, the family owns various vineries in Europe and the USA and produces famous wines such as Tignanello and Solaia considered among the best in the world.
In 2013 Antinori opened a new winery in the Bargino area, south Florence, designed by leading Italian architect Marco Casamonti. It is a 40 minute drive from Florence and approximately one hour from Lucca.
The estate organises various wine tours and wine tasting both in English and Italian - we highly suggest booking in advance for the English tour. Furthermore, there is a fantastic restaurant - only opened for lunch - overlooking the vineyards called Rinuccio 1180.

Castello di Ama: Art and Wine
Ama, located in the commune of Gaiole in Chianti, in the province of Siena, is a tiny hamlet perched on a rise at some 500 metres’ elevation, in an enchanted landscape that conjures up the frescoes of Benozzo Gozzoli.
Castello Di Ama was founded in the 1970s by a group of families who had fallen under the spell of this magical spot. About 75 hectares under vine, around the village of Ama. The vineyards lie between 420 and 527 metres above sea level and extend across four valleys referred to by their traditional names of Bellavista, San Lorenzo, La Casuccia and Montebuoni.
Castello di Ama doesn't only produce great wines, it also began an art project in 1999 in collaboration with Lorenzo Fiaschi and Galleria Continua. On average, one commission has been added every year.

The hamlet of Fonterutoli, an old bastion of Florence only a few kilometers from Castellina in Chianti, is blessed with an extraordinary view of Siena, which is so close that it is possible to discern the Torre del Mangia and the outline of the Duomo.
The centuries-old ownership of Marchesi Mazzei has preserved the handful of houses, the church of San Miniato, and the villa erected at the end of the 1500's in place of the citadel, more or less unchanged. Time stopped here, maintaining the charm of the Middle Ages.
